Wonderful Workshops was conceived in collaboration with The Jaipur Virasat Foundation (JVF), a multi-disciplinary non-profit making trust. The trust was registered in India in 2002 with HRH the Prince of Wales as its International Patron. It is dedicated to the conservation of Rajasthan’s cultural and built heritage.
In order to safeguard the region’s rich cultural legacy, JVF aims to link poverty alleviation with sustainable livelihood generation among the traditional communities of folk artists and craftspeople, by repositioning their skills as cultural assets in a rapidly modernizing India.
JVF also encourages cultural diversity by running a series of annual Festivals which showcase the wide spectrum of indigenous talents to both local people and the world community.
JVF was shaped by the vision of its Founder Patron, Faith Singh MBE, who, as the founder and driving force of Anokhi, transformed the numerous textile traditions of Rajasthan into creative opportunities that have sustained local craftspeople continuously over the last three decades.
JVF’s work is promoted by two registered international trusts, Jaipur Heritage Trust in UK, and Les Amis de Jaipur in France. For more information, please visit the JVF website, www.jaipurvirasatfoundation.org
